Description
Fat Rosie’s Lincolnwood is the newest location for a lively Mexican restaurant chain in the Chicago, IL area. The concept was inspired by the beaches and architecture of Cabo San Lucas, where the atmosphere is festive, playful, and family-friendly.
Durapalm carved palm paneling was selected for the restaurant’s main attraction: a larger than life palapa created for the bar. Design Director Meghan MacDougall noted, “The open weaving pattern was chosen to emulate the open criss cross wood fencing that surrounds an oceanside palapa, with bright blue paneling…mirroring the look of turquoise ocean waters…”
In addition to the aesthetic appeal of the material, the sound-absorbing properties of the carved panels were a big draw. “This restaurant has concrete floors and high ceilings, so acoustics were a big concern, especially when you’re in the middle of a high energy fiesta.”
