Smith & Fong s'approvisionne en bois de palmier dans des r\u00e9gions riches en palmiers, notamment en Am\u00e9rique centrale, en Afrique, dans les \u00eeles du Pacifique et en Asie du Sud-Est. Notre bois de palme provient de plantations et d'exploitations agricoles, o\u00f9 nous travaillons en harmonie avec le cycle de vie naturel de la production de palme. Nous utilisons principalement des esp\u00e8ces de palmiers \u00e0 sucre et de cocotiers, qui ont une dur\u00e9e de vie productive d'environ 60 ans. Apr\u00e8s cette p\u00e9riode, leur production de fruits ou de noix diminue \u00e0 mesure que la hauteur du palmier augmente, ce qui rend difficile l'acc\u00e8s de l'humidit\u00e9 et des nutriments au sommet. \u00c0 ce stade, la replantation est id\u00e9ale, et nous intervenons pour fournir une source de revenus suppl\u00e9mentaire aux agriculteurs, qui sont souvent de petits propri\u00e9taires terriens de moins de 10 acres. Contrairement aux bois durs traditionnels, le bois de palmier est plus tendre \u00e0 c\u0153ur et plus dense dans ses couches ext\u00e9rieures.
